really?? we applied in lhasa and the staff said HK people cannot apply in 樟木... so we paid rmb255 and waited till another to get back the visa...

Yup, the staff in Lhasa also told us that we could only apply visa there and that would take one working day. But I called the Nepal embassy and asked the officer on phone whether we can apply in 樟木, and he said yes. So we tried and it worked!!
I have no idea about applying visa in HK, maybe you can check it from the department website.

there are a few chinese owned guesthouse / hotel in thamel, but if u can afford more or require for better enviroment, those listed on lonely planet are nice too, like kathmandu guesthouse(cheapest:Rs490 not including tax and with public washroom,quite clean and gd environment, but noisy!!!) kathmandu peace huesthouse(next to 龙游客栈, so very quiet), tibet peace (heard that it is nice)...
one is called hotel pyramid 风凰宾馆(the cheapest is Rs400 double room with washroom) but i think not so good);
another is hotel tashi dhele 龙游客栈(Rs80 /Rs100 per bed for 6 people or 4 people domitory, washroom inside each donitory) this one is quiet and the cheapest with acceptable environment)
there are a lots of choices in thamel, i recommend u to check out for the room, washroom and environment when u arrive, it varies a lots even just HKD$5 difference.

News from Nepal:
Independent trekking would be banned in Nepal starting in October. Every trekker need to obtain a Trekking Registration Certificated issue by a trekking agent. At the same time trekker need to employ a guide or a porter from that trekking agent.

US$, mainly cash but TC is ok. VISA is acceptable in tourist shopd and restaurants in Kathmandu but not on others.

真是給你考起了。我估應該是可以的，因飛機飛得不高。Lukla 和 Namche 都有補給，但始終是山區，宜最遲在加德滿都購買。

Your website serves as the netvigator for those who dream to meet Everest face to face! Thanks for your journals, recorded datas and the posted pictures.It's even more detailed and interesting than the passages posted on different international trekking forums.We grasped so much from it to plan our EBC exploration in coming December. We can imagine that this period must be freezing, even much much colder than the period you made the trip. Unfortunately we can't afford to visit in a more favorable season due to work commitments.
Distancewise the round trip of EBC trek (103km) is not much further than the Maclehose Trail (100km), which we were used to complete within 30 hrs in the recent years of Trailwalker event. What an extrimity of speed and time! Of course we cannot underestimate the risk of AMS and have to try every means to alleviate the altitude discomfort.Your experience and "sufferings" remind us to be alert of the symptoms that may occur in the midst of the journey.
BTW, what is the brand of the trekking shoes/boots that enabled your ascension and descension without injury? Was it reliable to trek on the snowy rugged path? We are physically & mentally well-prepared to start off the trip, but still hunting for the appropriate shoes & sleeping bags. These 2 personal items are really essential to enlighten the entire trip. Any recommendations?

能 30 小時內走完刻毅行者，走 EBC 絕無問題，我想我 60 小時也走不完啊！
不過還得長氣地提醒你們，走 EBC 可千萬不要鬥快，宜沿途慢慢欣賞喜瑪拉雅山的景色。
我的鞋那牌子在香港已絕跡多年，是「高筒」 Goretex + Vibram 底，當年在旺角大中買，好似約 $700。其實我想走 EBC 對鞋的要求不會較走毅行者的高，我的嚮導甚至全程只穿「人字拖」呢！不過我想冬天走透氣和保暖方面要多留心，「高筒」 Goretex 鞋加 Thermatech 之類的保暖襪子會較適合，亦可帶備暖包。
我走的時候雪不深，真的大雪起來任何一般行山鞋都不夠防滑，"Hi-tech" 點的是加冰爪，有當地特色的是穿草鞋。
睡袋我想要羽絨了。
你也可參考 Shirley 的網站 (見「相關網頁」)，她也是冬天走 EBC。

I have done the poonhill 2 years ago. I planned to have another trek in October this year. I would have around two weeks in Nepal (excluding flight to and back HK). Which area you would recommend for my trek? ABC? Jomsom? Everest? Langtang?

If you have 2 weeks, you may try for EBC. Others are good too but trekking to ABC and Jomsom will duplicate part of the Poon Hill trek.

視乎你走哪一條路線，如擔心高山症可走 Poon Hill 線。我在路上遇見一位 70 多歲的老伯走 EBC，38 歲只有人家的一半啊。
十一月去尼泊爾最好，其次是三、四月。夏天雨季山路較難行，還會有水蛭。
